In texts about Old Master prints including the 18th century laid paper is not mentioned. Other papers and parchment are mentioned.

Measurements
The sizes of watercolours and drawings refer to the sizes of the paper alternatively to the border around the drawing. As far as not mentioned otherwise, the sizes of graphics refer to the plate sizes (etchings and engravings) or to the sizes of the images (all other printing technologies). At book woodcuts the sizes refer to the illustrations, at original posters to the size of the paper and at photographs to the size of the illustration.

Books
The format is measured from the height of the book cover; a landscape format is identified with „Qu.-„ in front of the size. These are the sized used for books as well as graphics at the category Dekorative Grafik:
