The auction house Winterberg has been founded in 1970 by Arno Winterberg.
Since 1993 has been is headed in second generation by Dr. Thilo Winterberg. In Germany it
is one of a few auction houses instructing professional
art antiquarians.
According to our tradition, the house distinguishes itself in seriousness,
expertise, experience and expert knowledge.
Twice a year, in spring and autumn, the
auctions with paintings, watercolour paintings, drawings, original graphic arts,
illustrated books and sculptures/bronze figures of the 15th - 21st centuries take place
in our auction house in Heidelberg, Germany. The scientifically researched and well illustrated
catalogues are written by Dr. Thilo Winterberg and a team of experienced art experts in
conjunction with a reference library containing about 16.000 books. Every Lot
described in the catalogue has been carefully examined for authenticity, technique
and general condition. The estimated prices are based on the analysis of
national and international auction results.
Worldwide distribution of the catalogues, a regular preview of highlights in our
gallery in Munich as well as every now and then in London and Frankfurt/Main guarantee
professional marketing for all our clients. The

Two weeks before the auction, a preview of all Lots takes place in our house in Heidelberg.

Besides the auction house, in 1993 the gallery
Galeria Palatina, Galerie & Edition GmbH
was founded. The Edition publishes several books like monographs and catalogues
raisonnées as well as graphik editions of contemporary artists. In our gallery Galeria Palatina
in Heidelberg, you can find selected works of different national and international artists.
Exhibitions take place periodically.
The Gallery Winterberg in Munich, Barer Straße 46,
Germany (next to the Neue Pinakothek) was opened in March 2004 as a branch of Winterberg Kunst.
Besides the previews of selected works from the upcoming auction in Heidelberg,
our clients can consign and pick up their purchases after previous accord.
Furthermore several exhibitions of national and international artists take place in this
gallery regularly.
Since 2000 Dr. Thilo Winterberg is a member of the chairmanship of the Bundesverbandes Deutscher
Kunstversteigerer (assosiation of German art auctioneers). Since July 2004 he is their chairman.
